Welcome to the Project Neutral Carbon Survey. Here are some details on the survey before you get started.
How long will the survey take?
The online portion of the survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
What information do I need to fill it out?
Before you begin, gather the following:
- Utility Bills: Natural gas, electricity, water bills for January to December of 2010. Tip #1: Enbridge customers can sign a waiver to release data directly to Project Neutral.
- Transportation Estimates: An estimate of the kilometres travelled by car and public transit from Jan to Dec 2010. Tip #2: Look at receipts for your oil changes to estimate personal vehicle use. Tip #3: Use the directions function on Google Maps to help with the public transit estimate.
- Groceries: A couple of recent grocery receipts.

How will this survey help my household?
Once the data collection phase for your neighbourhood is complete, we will analyse the information and provide you with a report that shows how your household footprint compares to the neighbourhood and city average. In addition, we plan to host a Neighbourhood Summit in 2012 to identify further strategies for reducing emissions at the individual, household and neighbourhood level.
A few words on Privacy
The data you provide will be used solely for carbon footprint calculations; your individual information will never be shared or divulged to a third party.
What if I can’t finish the survey in one sitting?
Make sure you allow yourself enough time to complete the survey. If you do not click ‘Send’ at the end of the survey the information will not be saved.
